Export readiness starts in the Binder
A clean export is built from clean project structure. Before compiling a document, confirm the Binder order, section types, front matter, back matter, and trash state. Anything in Trash or marked exclude from export should stay out of the final files.
This is especially important when the project contains research notes, alternate scenes, old drafts, and planning material that should remain useful but private.
Check front matter and back matter before formatting
Front matter and back matter often need different formatting from chapters. Title pages, copyright pages, dedications, acknowledgments, author notes, and resources should be reviewed before export presets are applied.
If those sections are stored as their own Binder items, it becomes easier to include, exclude, reorder, or revise them without touching the chapter draft.
Generate multiple formats from the same source
DOCX, PDF, EPUB, TXT, Markdown, and ZIP serve different jobs. DOCX is useful for editors and formatting review, PDF for fixed-layout proofing, EPUB for ebook testing, plain text and Markdown for portability, and ZIP for a full package with reports and source project data.
Awtter compiles from Binder order, respects include/exclude settings, and keeps export history so you can re-download previous outputs after later draft edits.
Inspect the output before publishing
No export engine removes the need for human review. Open the generated files, check section order, scan headings, confirm table of contents behavior, inspect front matter, and verify excluded sections are omitted.
For public release, keep a tested backup bundle and a reviewed ZIP export outside the source tree. That gives you both a recovery path and a shareable proof package.
